Preouts?

What exactly is a pre out? I know it sends out the audio signals to an amp, and the signal thats coming out of it is before the amplifier, but i'm wondering about equalizer settings and a preamp. Lets say i adjust the equalizer and bass boost to crazy high levels, would the signal out of the preout be effected? or will it no be effected because it is before the amplifier?

anything that is adjusted before the pre-amp outputs is reflected in the signal delivered to the amplifier through those outputs. If you have pre-outs going to an amp from your eq, then adjusting your eq will alter the signal going through the preouts to the amp. Preouts are just low powered(relatively) signal carriers, as opposed to your speaker outputs, which are high powered(amplified).
