Problem with deck
Alright, i just bought a new vehicle this evening, and it came with a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP deck in it, which was a small plus i guess
anyways there is something wrong with the deck, every time it is moved slightly yo the right, it shuts off. Also, when ever you pus the "eject" button it starts to flip down the face, loses power half, returns to normal, and then turns on again. so basically it only works as a radio. Tomorrow when its bright out i'm going to take it out and look at it, make sure no wires are touching and so on, but either than that does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? any info would be great. thanks |
take it out. if the harness isnt loose on the back of the head unit maybe there is some internal issues.

get teh deck out today, and the problem must be with the deck itself. all teh wiring seemed to be in order, and i put in another deck, and it worked perfect, so all things point to pioneer being broken.

Not that Pioneer has a rep for problems with their decks or anything, but at least you got a free car with it...... |

It is a Pioneer so what are the chances it is not an internal issue. :cheeky4:

Just a thought - have you checked the voltage levels at the harness?

I had an issue once with a Sony deck in a motor-home. . . or at first I thought it was the deck. Played the radio fine, but when I inserted a CD it shut off and spit the CD back out. Turned it on listened to the radio turned it up and it shut off again. The deck gave me grief with being irregular until it just stopped working together.
I discovered the problem when the RV sputtered up to my home and died in front of my house (good timing). The alternator died (as did the idiot light that should have indicated the alt wasn't working) and for most of the drive, I was running on a little less than 10v - not enough juice to operate the CD player, and not enough juice to turn the stereo up to a reasonable level. Some of the symptoms you described could be attributed to similar low voltage issues. |

I really hate being right sometimes. I kinda had a feeling it was internal being a Pioneer.
