Problematic Amp =(
 

Soo, here is the issue. I've always had problems with this amp, recently they have flared up. The other day my head unit would refuse to turn on, after I turned off the truck and turned it back on, it decided to work. Then it stopped working for a full day, and the next day it was completely fine.... a few days later, I thought I was fine because it stopped having issues, or so i thought. While driving down the road, my sub woofer would turn off, then turn back on. Usually for only 10-20 seconds, and it only happened about 3 times. Then the other day it stopped working all together. I have a KAC500PS amp and the instructions they gave me are pure . They don't mention if the red triangle blinking or even solid means what mode it is in. Usually, back when it was working the Amp always had a red light on, but now after reading some other posts apparently that means its in protection mode? I checked all the wires and made sure they are all solid. The Amp is getting plenty of power and the sub isn't blown (reading 3.6 OHMS on my DMM) One thing that is weird, is that when reconnecting the power line to my amp while redoing the wiring today, it kept sparking... Maybe the ground isnt good? The ground is on the floor panel with all the paint grinded away and its super solid... This morning, the sub decided to turn on for about 30 seconds right when I left my house, then it turned off.

I would try another solid ground point, and use new ground wiring.

I tested it in one of my friends cars and it worked perfectly fine. Gotta be either wiring or the Amp itself is toast.

Why on earth would you put up with an amp you have always had problems with? If you bought it new you should have talked to kenwood. If you bought it used then thats why they sold it. Time for s new amp I think. Just my 2 cents. There is a guy on the internet that will answer amp repair questions. He might be able to help you. He runs this car audio site.
