Protection mode
Hi all, am new to this forum, please be gentle I am using a car stereo on my boat, a Kenwood KDC-MP345U. No amps or subs involved, just 4 6.5" speakers. I generally put all of the sound to the rear speakers that are on the main deck. I hook my ipod through the auxiliary input for sound, and yes, the wire for that 3.5 headphone connection is pretty small. I find that when I turn the volume up, the deck shuts down into what I suspect is protection mode. After 3-4 seconds of silence, it powers back up and as soon as I turn down the volume setting (below 28) everything works fine. I'm just wondering if the protection mode is coming on at what I perceive to be a lower volume than it should or is this fairly normal for a 22 watt RMS system. Could over-heating cause protection mode to kick in early? Is it possible that the small wire from the ipod to the deck is making it difficult to get enough signal? One final thought, I've put the Ipod at high volume, could that make a difference with the protection mode kicking in? Thanks in advance. Keith
