I have a JL 12 W6 (so that's dual 6 ohms's) 300rms total.

If I have any amp that of course gives 4 ohms bridged into Mono. but the sub will give a 3ohm load...I know it's not good to give that to an amp...it'll be working too hard etc.

How do I add a resistor, to bring the ohms up? (I heard you can do this)...If so..what resistor rating, and where in the set-up would it go?

thanks for any info guys.

dont even worry about it.

any 4ohm mono amp will be able to drive a 3 ohm load..

A good 4ohm stable amp should handle it.

what kind of amp is it ?

We're trying to figure out what amp to get though, that's the whole dilemma.

for example, this one.

http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/cgi/...c&f=2&t=006558

KICKER SPECS:
ZR360 typical output:
128 watts @ 4 Ohm stereo
242 watts @ 2 Ohm stereo
491 watts @ 4 Ohm mono
437 watts @ 2.66 Ohm mono
412 watts @ 2 Ohm mono
Maximum current draw is 80 Amps.

I want to upgrade my computer this weekend so I'm offering this great weekend deal
on my Kicker ZR360 which will help pay for a new CPU and Motherboard.
Buy it for $230 shipped anywhere in Canada. This is one hard hitting amp,
ran it with a set of JL 12w6's and it puts out some impressive power.
The ZR series are very underated, this amp is every bit as powerful as my
Phoenix Gold XS2500 which is rated for 500x1 watts rms. The amp is mint,
no broken feet and includes the KICKER ZR360 badge on the heatsink which is
usually the first thing people loose.

- Built in crossover with stereo outputs.
- Dual 40 amp inboard fuses
- Stable down to 1 ohm stereo / 2 ohms mono

@ 3 ohms the wattage would be around 450rms, so would that be putting too much on the sub?

^ That is an excellent amp for a great price.

The 12W6 will handle the ZR360 without any issues. Good choice on amps.

thanks, for the info and the "okay" to go ahead...lol

Sleboda...

I run 3 ohm loads on a 4ohm amp,, no problem at all... and that kicker amp will give suffucent power to the original W6 and you should be very happy.
