question about alpine type r 10 inch
 

Hi all I'm new to this forum as well as to that sound system stuff so here my question. I recently bought an alpine type r 1021D sub along with a 200 watts 4 channel amp (brand is power acoustics). Can somebody tell me how well they would work together if at all? And also can someone give me some advice if the amp i have will be enough or if i should get a better one? And one more thing how does a amp affect a sub which has lower watts than the rms rating of the sub? Thx in advance.

Well i'm sorry to tell you but your 200 watt amp will not power your 1000 watt rms 3000 watt peak subwoofer.

You should look at buying 1000 rms watt mono amplifier at whichever ohm your subwoofer is.

this 10 inch sub i have (type r swr 1021D) cant have 1000watt rms and 3000 peak power here is a link with the spec.

in this link it says it has a rms rating of 300 watts and a peak power of a 1000watts.

older type R's are 300 watts rms. Your 200 watts will obviously run them, though not to their potential. Depending on what you're looking for in terms of output, it may be fine for you. It's not magic, if there's power and a working speaker, it will work!

You will be fine but you will only be using two channels of your amp bridged to one to power your sub
200 watts is still a fair bit of power and granted your sub might sound better with more power it isnt needed to make reasonable bass I'll make the assumption that your amp is 50x4 so that will produced roughly 200 watts bridged for the sub and leave you with 2x50 for somethin else like front speakers

well i got 2 6x9's in the back and I'm also going to upgrade the front speakers with 3.5" alpine type s speakers. The deck is jvc. the deck itself produces 4x50 watts and with the amp as u said i should be fine. I'm gonna upgrade later to a better amp anyway. But thx for your help guys.
