Ok, so right now I have an older set of MbQaurt Q series components, they are fairly old, used a bit, but sound good and only paid $175. I think the model was somthing like MB Quart QM 218.03 CX but not 100% sure. But right now there is a guy selling a set of Focal Polykelar 165K for $300 new in box.

Any recomendations? I've listened to my quarts only a handful of times and I think they sound pretty good... but I've never had the chance to listen to this type of focal but heard many many good things about them.

And the thing is I know I can sell off my quarts for the same price I paid, so basically for another $125 I'd have a new set of focals.

What do you guys think? Whats everyones experiences with each type?

Agreed. It is purely subjective.
Personally I found the QM160's that I just took out of my car to be a bit harsh (the tweets anyway) and my new Kickers sound amazing now. I have listened to many sets of the Polykevs and they are very nice sounding IMO. Warm yet crisp enough to bring a smile to yer face.

Well problem is they are new in box, meaning he hasn't ever installed them before so a demo might not be avaliable. I think he might have another set in his car but I'll have to ask him.

And with my quarts I run into the problem I've never installed them either! Had listened to them in a couple test boxes for awhile and thats about it. So I really don't know how they sound either.

Sooooo... it's tough to tell which I would prefer given the fact I can't really hear either. But I'm kindof leaning towards the focal simply because I'm not a fan of absolutly intense tweeters, I don't mind them but I do remember back when I had a OZ component set with the silk tweeters I prefered the highs over these MbQuarts, only problem is the set of OZ I had couldn't handle much power and I wanted to step up to somthing that could put out a little more... and came across the Quarts.

Sooooo... don't know what i'll do.

Hey tom, I acually sold you the quarts you have now.

They were nice sounding, I prefeer the sound of soft dome (or silk dome tweeters though)

If you want smooth I would recomend any brand of good quality with soft dome tweeters, ask jeepbeats about the crystal speakers, I looked at them and they look great(neaver heard them though) and a very nice price too.

I have heard the utopia and Q's and both seem bright. very nice mind you just not my taste.

The difference between the Quarts and the Focals will be like Michael Jackson 1982 and Michael Jackson 2004. Black and white.
