question about dash lights after BIG3
I just recently did the BIG3. Now when I roginally installed my deck about 1 and a half years ago my dash lights went all dim on me. I changed decks and the same issue is happening. Now after doing the BIG3 I would have figured I would have got some lights back on the dash. I'm not really sure if the BIG3 applies to this situation or not, but some help would be great.

there's some other electrical issue. The big 3 doesn't increase voltage per say, though it can appear that way at the amplifiers after it's done...this is due to a reduction in resistance in the circuit which allows for less voltage drop. Assuming your dash wiring is in good condition, the voltage delivered to the dash lights should be more than enough to properly light them. I would have a tech check the grounds and wiring of your dash lights to make sure there isn't a regulator or some other component malfunctioning. Also, double check the grounds close to the deck have not been removed of are installed improperly. Could be a bad ground causing voltage drop to the dash lights, bad switch, dash light regulator (if it has one), poor connections, or the dimming lead from the deck wiring is installed improperly.

If they are completely off it's maybe like my Dodge. The light are controlled by the computer and it needed a little reboot. Unplug your ground press the brake pedal and wait 5-10 min before replugging the the ground. If it's like me your dash light will be back.

they are always on it's just that they are dim and kind of annoying at times

20 years as an installer and I can count on one hand how many times I have hooked up the ILL lead on decks - and they were all in the first couple of years.
Causes more greif than good IMO... :ohwell: |
