Question about my 4-Channel MTX
 

Now I am not sure if I am doing this right but I hope I am...

If I have my components hooked up the the amp and 1 woofer and I suppose to set the amp to 4 channel mode or 2 channel mode?

I was looking at a Hifonics amp and it showed that it needed to be on 2 channel mode to sum all channels.

I have to crank the gain nob to at least half before I hear my woofer...

So I did it right, Or I should of bought a more powerful amp.

Im not sure exactly how MTX works as Ive never owned one but typically speaking you should be able to bridge each set of channels individually to create for example 75w RMS x2 and 150w RMS x1 OR 150 x 2 - If you can only bridge 4 channels in to 2 then you cannot run your current configuration properly...

It should be 75w RMS x2 and 300w RMS x 1.

75 for the fronts each, And 300 for the woofer.

4ohm only.

This configuration is very similar to my Rockford 4 Chan

Use fronts normally use the rear center negs and pos for bridging and run it in 4 channel mode

Where's your manual? It'll all be in there. Did you install this yourself or was it professionally done?

IIRC the 4ch/2ch switch is to choose how many RCA inputs you use. If you have one RCA pair then 2ch, if you have two RCA pair, then 4ch.

I don't see where you're seeing this

While bridged the unit will produce 300 RMS x2 - You're only bridging two of the four channels via the rear outputs which will produce 150 RMS and your fronts will be running their normal 2 channel configuration at 75w RMS x2

Unless the MTX amp halves the ohms when bridged which would cause a 2ohm load with a 4ohm woofer which would give you your 150x2=300 RMS on the rear channels at 2ohms and your 75x2 at 4ohms on the fronts.

That's the common principle. As long as the power supply can keep up the current and the voltage doesn't sag, the 4ohm load will be seen as a 2ohm load on the amp and return 300watts to the bridged load.

Maybe it's because I am starving the amp with stock wiring under the hood, It seems the fronts take a lot of juice.

I am guessing once I upgrade the wire under the hood and possibly a cap I would get a better flow of power.

Maybe I should have bought this amp, It's twice the power of the MTX I have.
