hey, i just have a question. i looked around on here and saw alot about distro blocks and what not, but say if i had 2 amps. 1 was ~800RMS running off of 4ga power wire, and the other was a smaller amp ~150RMS running off of 8ga wire..

here's the question. my battery post has a nut on the end (side post) and i took off the nut and put the power ring for the 4ga wire into it and put the nut back on. i know this would be kind of "ghetto" but would it work if i kept the 4ga ring where it is now, and put another ring (for the 8ga wire) right behind that and put the nut back on? would this not work, or just be extremely ghetto? does anybody do it this way?

just curious... i dont have much money left after winter mods right now for thicker wire to split into 1 4ga and 1 8ga. so yea, just wondering if this would work. both wires are fused separately by the way.

thanks!

oops, i should have put this in the "install related" forum i am sorry :(

If I understand you...yes that would be fine!

yeah, in short... its basically 2 different gauge wires coming off the same battery post.. and running to the trunk

..for 2 different amps

thanks!

Good to go, just make sure you fuse them according to the current(amps) capacity of each cable.

Yupp...like they all said. No probs there.

That is how I had my wiring for DB drag,so I could pull the fuse for my front stage amp before comps!

sweet.. thanks!

so why do people use thick wire then split it to smaller wire with a distro block? just looks better right?

thanks for the replies guys by the way:)

^^I think it's also easier to run one thick wire to the back than 2,3,or 4 smaller ones. Just my opinion.

(GrizZz here on the wife's PC)

For five bucks or less at almost any auto parts supplier you can get side terminal bolt adapters that have a provision for adding extra ring terminals. Cheap & easy.

Edit: Oh, meant to comment on your last question... Big cable to distro block then smaller cables off to the amps... 'Tis just common sense... Imagine power electrons as marbles... The big cable will move (for example) 100 marbles at a time. Then they get to the distro block and split off into smaller tubes (cables), say 50 marbles each, or 33 marbles each, etc. etc. You can think of it as water too...
