Buy a wiring harness that is meant for your car and connect the wires that are the same colour.

wireing harness is like 40 bucks where as if i soder wires together seems like it would be better.

well im not sure if the 2003 are the same as the 1999 modle's, but if this help's your welcome wire colors

A 2003 does not have the same colours as the 1999 model. Do not listen to Lumina Guy.

You have a couple options here. One option is to buy the harness for a 2000+ Geo Tracker. You have to add a switched 12V wire though by tapping into a switched 12V source. You will lose your door chimes with this method.

You can also buy a T harness that is made for 2000+ Cavaliers and Sunfires. This method will force you to relocate your stock deck somewhere else in the car. Do some searches on www.jbody.org under the heading "2000+ cavalier and deck" and you will find numerous posts on this subject.

Cheers,
Dan

hey give me a break, sorry. i was looking for the wire color's and the newest i could find was a 99. so i made an honest mistake ok. give me a break. i did not know when they changed the harness in the cavlier's. and yes i know they change them every so many year's

The wires you are seeing coming out the back of the stereo is probably the wiring harness used before. Your only option is to buy a wiring harness for your car and an antenna adaptor. You match the colours to the existing colours on the head unit and plug that harness into your cars harness. Then plug your antenna adaptor into your cars antenna. You will likly need a mounting kit for your car which will cost around 40$. The harness should be around 20$ and the antenna adaptor around 10$. Small price to pay for a free head unit.

I wasn't trying to rag on you, I was just trying to warn him that your info wasn't right. I know you are trying to learn and stuff and that's cool because everyone has to learn at some point, but you shouldn't give your advice if you don't know what you are talking about...
