The equation for determining the length of a port is as follows:
Where:
diameter of vent (Dv)
number of ports (Np)
volume of box (Vb)
frequency of box (fb)
end correction factor (k)
k values:
vent has one free end and one flanged = 0.732
vent has two free ends = 0.614
vent has two flanged ends = 0.850
Note that a decrease in port length for a given diameter is inversely proportional to the effective tuning frequency.

so i dont wanna sound stupid or any thing buy how do you tune ports on boxes? and i have a few questions about setting my sub and amp
like i have a 12 inch L5 kicker in a 1.75 cu ft ported box and an
alpine mrd-m605 im not sure how to set the gain or LP filter what ever that may be or the low pass filter selector or the cross over frequency, so if any one could toss me a few pointers please do
. ps im new to the whole fourm thing and sorta new to stereos but i kno more then most my friends and i wish to kno alot more
