quick question
 

In my amp manuel it says "output power @ 14.4v DC, 1KHz", what does this mean exactly? If it wasn't for this forum i would be considered audio retarded.

It means that if you give the amp 14.4 volts and measure the output at 1000hz, you will get the number of watts that they are telling you. Now considering that flea market brands can make power at 1000hz, throw this spec out the window. What you should be looking for is a power measurement made across the entire frequency spectrum, from 20 - 20000hz for example, made at either 12 volts or 14.4 volts into a 4 ohm impedence. Some companies will also market their amps measured into a 2 ohm or 1 ohm load at that 1000hz rating. That is a great way to get a wildly inflated power rating.
