hey there guys, i had a quick qs, totaling all my rms, im at around 2500 watts rms. i wanted to know what type of alternator ( how many amps ) and what type of battery will i need to be stable and good voltage. thanks!

What type of vehicle first off. Factory stuff is never sufficient IMO. Min for you if you want to play music all day, 170+ amp alt and 1-2 batteries rated 80a/h @ 12 volts.

post up where you get your alt from, when you get it. im in the market for an alt and i was lookin at excessive but yet to find a canadian dealier.

well im thinking about getting it from Nate @ excessive amp. he quoted me 425$(us) around 435$ canadian shipped for a 200 amp alternator. i think that would be enough for most systems. most alterntors above 200 amp, need custom brackets and all.. first i was thinking of getting a 300 amp alterntor, he quoted me 460$ and 370$ for the brackets and on top of that shipping around a 100... so it was close to 1k. so i decided to go with a 200 amp, with maybe 1-2 kinetik batteries, although im stil trying to find a good deal on batteries which are so hard since there are basically no canadian dealers in comparison to the american dealers nd on top of that the shipping is brutal cuz of the weight of the batteries.. maybe i'll go with 2 kinetiks 1800s or 2000s 2 shipped will b around 650-700$ i guess thats ok =/

not a bad price for the alt. what kind of warranty?? i'd get a really big battery(ies) first , than clamp the output to see what kind of demand you're putting on the charging system.than get an alt that will keep up.

u think a hc 1400 under the hood nd a hc 2400 in the trunk would b good enough?

Jaster701 01-09-2011 03:42 PM

Have you looked @ Optima drycell batteries as well?

try the 2400 under the hood first... i've run over 3kw daily on an nsb90.
