Hi
I currently have kicks with 4" & tweeters in them. Also, 6" midbass in the doors.

Somebody told me that by adding a decent pair of rear speakers & with time delay. The front soundstage can be raised and the depth can be increased.

The car is a VW GOLF III.

nope! In my experience, a decent set of metal tweets, up in the dash or pillars, crossed over very high, can raise and broaden your stage. I have tried rears, and dash tweets, and the rears sucked. This comming from someone who loves listening to music in surround.
That's my $.2

You can achieve a better sound stage many ways. Try playing with the Phase of the drivers. First thing I would do would be to flip the passanger 4" mid out of phase with the rest of the system. If you have an Eq raise around 1K about 1-2DB.. Try that see what you get.

Thanks.

Do you mean playing "air" in the sail panels or a-pillars?

the height in the center of the dash is at dash height (or the air vent height).

I have a slight rainbow effect.

The passives are fixed x-over points. 400Hz highpassed for mid & not sure about tweeter. 400Hz low passed for midbass and I use active highpass at 63Hz, therfore I have a bandpass for midbass.

The sub plays 63Hz and lower.

playing "air" means high passing the 2nd set of tweeters at 10Khz or higher. So, it plays just the top edge.
