what kind of vehicle setup you have? Truck, wagon, van? If you want more spl, then ported is way to go, and with 7.5cubes your on right track. Probably round flared port(s) would give you less port noise then square conventional..

you're looking for blanced sound and sq, and you want to use an 18" sub, so you're going to need hell of a front end to keep up with that monster sub. Think about what you'll need in terms of mid bass, mids, and highs to balance it out.

The MX models nicely in a large sealed box (.25 cf^3 displacement).
Recommended 4 cubes: QTC .8695 / FC @ 35.08 HZ
7.25 cubes: QTC .7031 / FC @ 28.37 HZ
Efficiency 1W/1m: 87.65 dB
I think you would get some killer lows in 7.25 cubes sealed, and with a flat QTC, it'd be a nice "tune" for daily. It's loud SQ. If you port it around 35hz, it'll be -24dB @ 25hz, while the sealed box is -12dB @ 18.37hz. It depends if you want lows like that. It might not take 1500W in 7.25 cubes, but you're under powering it anyways.
