Smile RE vs. Image Dynamics

Alright dudes, I planned on buying a 12" Image Dynamics IDQ but I realized that I should search around before I jump the gun. I did a bunch of research and the only sub that I thought may compare to the idq that is in the $200 price range is the 12" RE Audio SR. I don't know anything about RE products though I have heard many great things about them. I am guessing that this is comparing an spl sub to an sq sub but maybe I am wrong. How do these subs compete against each other? I am going for sq in this next set up so let me know which sub you would choose.

Thanks guys.

i've heard a few IDQ's (10's and 12's) and they are an awesome quality unit.
I can't comment on the RE as i haven't heard any other than a 15" XXX and a 12" SE

I haven't seen too many SR users. at least around this forum.
probably because they are quite new-ish.
from the specs SR has a little edge in x-max, but is less efficient.
Are we talking IDQ v2?

There are other options of course if you are looking at sq subs.
peerless,
Madisound Speaker Components, Inc. - - Peerless 830877 12" XXLS Autosound Subwoofer
tc-sounds
TC Sounds (dB-500) (on sale now)
TC Sounds (TC-9) (on sale too)
diyma sub.
Diyma Reference 12" Subwoofer Diy Mobile Audio

I have recently got myself a pair of 12" Arc series subs, which are equivalent to IDQs with tweaks, because I got a good deal on them. If I didn't buy these two before I found a tcsounds sale, I'd probably have gone with tcs.

holy *****! I have never heard of any of those companies? Those tc subs look sick! I love the flat black look. So do all those companies that you listed have great sq compared to I.D.? Cuz I heard image subs don't ever miss a note.

things like style not to mention xmax and powerhandeling may be factors.... but have you modeled the subs out in a program like winisd or bassbox to determine things like response curves and Q factor... ????

A simple decision between ported and sealed may also give a strong bearing of which sub you should buy....

Just a headsup to Lspade, the tc 1000 is on a pretty darn good sale right now.
