I used to work for Whitby FS 2 years ago and even my own work screwed me over on my screen install (when I had it) and didnt hook up the video harness wires.

I can relate to this, i went to FS to have my component set installed. If i had of had them finish the install it would have cost me 185$, all they installed was the tweeters and crossovers and charged me for a basic speaker install. So i ended up installing the rest myself, then ended up replacing every wire in the kit (which was working fine until i took in for installation).

Holy smokes man,, but a jigsaw, drill, skill saw,, do yourself,, learn how to do it, and do it right!

Take things slow, I'm self taught, welding, fabrication, bodywork, paint, fiberglass,, it's all not that hard to do,, you just have to take a first step!

I never agreed on even $35.00 for installing a deck! Unless it's like a bitch dash to take apart, like the Celebrity, even with the deck to factory harnesses you can get now,, makes everything sooo much easier.

I had never seen any ways of installing the crossover, that was the only reason i had gone to FS in the first place. But i have learnt from my mistake.

I just don't buy car audio from future shop, unless they're giving it away and it's a good item .. lol Or if it's a last resort ... And never will have them ever install anything, personal preference, and I have a local shop I like that does excellent work ...

I bought RCA's from them a couple years ago for my first stereo, they completely misinformed me, 9ft of RCA cable for $25 is ridiculous ... It was WAY too short so I couldn't use it at all, and buying it away from home before we even had a FS in my area meant I just ate it, it's collecting dust in my basement.

I hate to dig this up but being a Lead Installer at Future Shop and having 7yrs professional install experience 2 of which were for small mom and pop shops and the last 5 I spent at Whitby and now Belleville.

I feel the service the origional poster recieved was industry standard and the last 3 points were just not right and not the image I want for my shop cause when something bad happens at another Future Shop I cant help but feel like I'm responsible in some way.

I'm going to touch on the 1-3 points quick to say this is the standard everywhere not just FS unless you ask Installers are not mind readers if you want solder ask we will do it if you want the Xovers mounted beside your amp we will do it but there is the cost of the 40ft of wire and the labor for getting it through the door boots. Xovers in the doors is the norm although the xover should be placed on the out side of the weather guard plastic so is does not get wet or a cover should be made to block the elements. Running RCA's with power wire is also normal as long as its going to a sub we never run full range RCA's next to power wire ever!!.

As for the last 3 points I'm sorry this happened did you go back and say something? If not you cant bitch about the work cause they cant fix it if you dont ask them to maybe they didnt notice they scratched your dash. The fuse holder should always be tied up or mounted if there is a good location.

I know the install leads at every location in Ontario and I can assure you anyone of them would help you out if you brought this situation to them. But what I'm going to offer you is you bring me your recept and work order for the install paid and I will re-do the work for free as well if your dash was damaged by the install we will pay for it to be fixed.

PM me if your interested

Thanks to everyone who supported FS and we do, do crazy custom work and likley more then most mom and pop shops we have a face book group I just started if you want to look at some of our work or ask any questions its Future Shop Car Audio.

I know its not the best thing to do but the fq at which noise travels is out of the subs playing range so no harm no foul again if we are asked to run the RCA's on the other side of the car we do it.

I just noticed the origional poster is from P.E.I so I'm sure he wouldnt be able to make it to me for the work but I would like to help you get this solved if at all possable. I can call the bay in P.E.I tomorrow and give them for screwing up my friends car and tell them your coming back to have it fixed.
