Never forget that to be a professionnal, all you need is to live from your work. Beign an expert or a reference is another thing.

There is probably guys here that worked as installers for different shops, and they need to chime in. The way I see this is that car audio installation work just like the rest of the industry. These shops hires unqualified people because all they do is simple install. Those guys work fast and cut across corners because that's what they are asked to do. Install quick so we can do more car in a day. Even if you mess up a few one times to times, and we take them back for complete reinstallation, in the end, we do more install with less staff.

Next time you shop in these stores with "free install" ask them for a rebate if they don't install it, or ask them how much is the extra cost for a "clean installation"

I bet there is alot of installers at fs-bb that are perfectly capable of doing the best job on youre car.
The fact of the matter is the guy that cuts corners and does more installs in a day than the guy that takes his time and gets the job done with pride, sad as it is gets the praise and the raise.

I had a shitty install done on an alarm awile back and was quite unsatisfied, but all in all the installers are bound to do what the store/owners are expecting them to do.
I know there is good installers on this site that work at these places and it would be nice if they were to take more time to inform less knowledgable custumers what would be "best" in there installation and ask these custumers if they might like to pay a little more to have it done a little better because im sure alot of people would like to have that kind of choice.
And those who choose not to can F/O lol

I offer my customers extra service's like running new wire to the speakers if we are amping them all the time.

Its very unfortunate that we do not get customers like you guys more often I wish I delt with knolegeable guys everyday but I spend most of my days teaching the basics to stereo noobs which is fine cause you dont get the EGO that many guys have when they think they know everything either. But the down fall to this is when a knolegeable guy like you guys comes in we are pre-programed to treat you like customer A instead of with the respect you guys deserve but thats why you need to ask us questions and challenge us trust me I get so happy when a guy who is super pumped about car audio comes in and he actually knows his it makes it so much easier to tell him whats good and whats not and much easier to explain when he needs extra labor or wire to make the system work 100% the way he wants.

So what I'm saying basically is if your in a FS tell the guy your talking to you compete or you have been doing the car audio thing for a while and the sales guy will likley get the Install Lead involved so he can explain things on a more technical level for you. Trust me every installer in general loves shooting the with guys who know atleast the basics.
