??Recommended amps for Alpine Type-X??

I'm definitely not audio-electronically inclined, so I'm in need of some serious help.

I am buying a 12" Alpine Type-X sub. I already have two Type-S 5-1/4" speakers, and I don't have an amplifier.
Eventually I will purchase another type-x, but I just need to get my started right now.

Could anyone suggest a suitable amp for me (and better speakers too, if those are shitty, I'd have no idea :S) ???
Also, what type of box to put my sub(s) in. Would it be better to get one box now, and another when I get the other sub, or to switch to a double?

All of this is just really to confusing for me, any help would be greatly appretiated.
I really need the perfect system, cause I might not know anything about this stuff, but I'm picky as hell.. and I really won't be happy until it's just right.
[The car is a 2-dr '96 Sunfire if that makes any difference.]

Thanks so much. <3

well 1st mistake is running it in a sunfire...
BUT im no better lol... mx3....

I got 2 10" alpine type-X's and im running both of them of of a mrd-m1005... sounds great at 4ohm in series... my alternator is too week to handle lower ohm on parallel or any more amps..

I've been debating what amp or amps to run for the 2 subs...
i've decided to just get another mrd-m1005 and run 2.. 1 for each sub...
since the type-x's are 1000watt rms and so is the amp i've decided 2000watts is plenty for me....

You can pick up a mrd-m1005 new of then net for like $300 before shipping/taxes/duties... As for your speakers i heard they sound good for what you pay for them... other then that i dont know much... i heard the type-x speakers... lemme tell you they sound great... but they cost MORE then a type-x sub...

Also i ran the subs in a sealed box and ported... and i prefer ported... It sounds just as loud but deeper... but then again it could be the way i had them set up or just my car... I got told to build both... one of best advices i got...

Thats my 2cents...

Well not sure of your budget, if they are dual 4 ohm drivers look for something in the 1500-2000Wrms range at 1 ohm. A couple of options are the Sundown SAX1500D or an RD Audio RD1750.1 both are the same board pretty much and put out a ton of power and seem to be reliable. If you want mainstream brands RF, Kicker, Orion and Alpine are all nice choices.

One of my friends jsut bought the same sub as you and he is running 2 PDX 1 for every voice coil i belive or something like that. I herd that the type x is build like a tank, and is power hungry, so dont be shy and give it some power! The mrd-m1005 is a nice amp for it but i would give it more power...i have the mrd-m1001 (almost the same 1000rms) for 2 10" infinity kappa (rated at 350rms) got 500 into them. I always like putting more power then what is suggested... anyways because you have a sunfire (not a big car at all...dunno if its 2 or 4 door) i would go whit the Alpine PDX for two reason...they are nice amps, small....and could be stacked one on a other (that 3 reason eh:cheeky4: heheh) anyways i dont know if you want SQ or SPL but you would be suprised how much 1 12" type X build in a nice box with lots of power can deliver.... in a sunfire i dont see why you would need two of these it would only take up a lot of space, also i think your bass would cover up your speakers (if u have 2 type X). Instead of getting two i would bye 2 amps for the one type x and build a costum box. By doing this u will also not take up the whole trunk!!!! which can always be usefull.
