Recommended Amps for Single 12" Type R
Just a follow up on an earlier post regarding the RF P550.2 amp. By checking out the specs, the RMS at 4 ohms bridged is 550W. I know everyone says RF underrates their amps..would this be the same case in this situation? Is there any problems bridging the amp and sub to a 4 ohm load?
1 other thing..some guys are talking about the bass hitting harder with an amp being run on a 4 ohm load..compared to a 1 ohm load in my case. Can anyone explain the details behind that? Lol, car audio rookie here!!!

One last thing..I have given up on setting a budget, although I would like to keep it down a bit. I am now looking for something in the 600-800 RMS range that is suitable for my sub..as a previous poster mentioned it is better to provide more juice then needed to prevent clipping. I have searched quite a bit, but am pretty lost on which brands produce solid amps...any last suggestions? Thx!!!!
Pioneer Premiere ICEpower PRSD2100T amp would fit this bill. Minimum output into 4 ohms is 600w rms. It is a rock solid amplifier. Digital Designs M1 mono amp is another stellar amplifier for a 1 ohm load, more than enough power for you which is going to allow that gain to be left as low as possible.
