reg cab pickup drivers, please read!
 

how do you guys set up your subs? i did an install recently in a 96 grand-am, which was easy. soooo much space to work with... but with my truck, im having issues figuring out a solid setup. ive had 3 10s behind the seat, 2 12s behind the seat, (a ten ON the seat, lol), and now im trying out a box in between the buckets.

my truck is a 2000 cmc sierra, the middle seat is removable. right now the box im using is a wedge type stacked on top of a rectangle, sealed box. try to imagine the box as a seat. rear firing re sx12.

my problem is, i dont want subs behind my seats... id much rather have the leg room!!! so how do ya'll do it? just grin and bear the cramped up cab? or do you improvise? any tips, ideas, or pics of your set ups would be much appreciated.

Find yourself one of the shallow mount subs from AVI or Pioneer for this application. Then some creative box building and you can have your seat all the way back.

I built a box for 2 12`s behind the seat of a 1992 Gmc Sierra and his seats are all the way back as stated above shallow mount subs and carefull box buildings, In this one I put Lanzar Heritage HRW124D woofers and they sound great and get pretty loud for a pickup.

i just built a stereo for a guy it was a 97 chev single cab he ahd racing seats in it and wanted a stereo that wouldnt go behind the seat either so i built a box for a solo x 12 that fired down to the floor and had a big slot port firing forward the box was i think 3.5 cft i cant remember exactly i talked to a tech at kicker and he said to build the box the same as a tch back car as far as size and tunning go. i can safelly say that this stereo was unreal it sounded so good and was loud it is hard to get good numbers out of a p/u as you know and this truck hit like 145.something.

agreed a cab through is the best way to do a truck period. but it is alot more work and most times more costly i did one on a single cab s-10 with two kicker l7 12's and that turned out very well but if your looking to keep your truck looking stock and keep your cost down look at what i said before.

Racing seats makes it much easier with the worst being a bench seat. My first vehicle was a 88 Ford F-150 Reg Cab with a bench and I was still able to fit four Kaption Pro10's behind the seat (forced to lose some legroom though). Unfortunately I had to hide the beautiful PG Outlaw amp I had running the system under the seat.
