I'm pretty sure all my friends that have systems have had DR Crank subs, I've had them, in fact, was there not a truck/van back in the day that did 165 with a bunch of Dr Crank subs?
They were nothing special SQ wise, but they pounded pretty good, kinda like Strokers
There is an old Dr. Crank demo van (fugly yellow astro... ) sitting out behind Big Pete's audio shop on Dundas St. west of Dixie Rd. I remember seeing it full of Crank 10's a few years ago, but I only met a few guys who used the subs.
More old school memories....

WEll then you obviously are correct Brandon. DrC wasn't a cottage brand - it was big like Rockford and Alpine and JL. Everyone had it and knew about it
Considering it's planet dominating status I have to wonder where it is today.
Next we'll be hearing how Petras and M&M were global powerplayers also..

I think Dr. Crankenstein had small followings here and there. Audio Excellence here sold it for a while, it seemd to be built the same as Pyle at the time, which was an average quality American product. I used Soundstrema at the time, and wouldn't be caught dead with something with Crankenstien in the name.
/\... I still have fond memories of the M&M 6X9 Godfather series woofers I had many moons ago...2 of them in the rear deck of my 1984 Buick Electra Ltd sounded so good, I bought 2 more and put all 4 of them in a box in the trunk....
Makes me wonder how some of the "old school" hardware would stack up against the new stuff...or am I just looking at the past thru the proverbial rose coloured glasses??....
Time to get back to the future....

I never said they were a big name, I'm simply stating that it wasn't some backyard company that only a few people knew about.
When someone says old school I automatically think Punch XLC, Dr.C and JL right off the bat.
And stop being so ****in grouchy Dukk.
