Remote wire to 3 amplifiers.

Hi,

I am in the process of installing with a co-worker who has 20 years experience in car audio installation as a hobby.
Everything is going well but we disagree on one thing, whether or not to fuse the remote wire. In a previous thread on this site it was suggested that i fuse the remote wire. My co-worker does not have it fused in his set up and said he never had a problem.

I would rather play it safe, so can someone give me a very detailed explanation on what i need to do. The remote wire is hooked up to my deck and needs to be split to three seperate amplifiers. Front 4 channel, Rear 2 channel and Mono.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have never fused JUST the remote wire, however a relayed remote wire, I have :D(this was cause it was a 4x4 and only purpose was to bounce around), But for personal pleasure and daily beating, nope, never remote wire fusing.

All Pioneer decks used to come with a fuse in the remote wire. 500ma ;)

Alpine decks use (or used) a circuit breaker on theirs. Remove the short and most of the time it would work again.

For 3 amps I would consider using a relay. Then fuse the power to the relay at 5 amperes.

what is the worse that can happen if i piggy back the remote from amp to amp?
how difficult is it to relay and then fuse the power to the relay at 5amps?
sorry for the noob questions but we all have to start somewhere.

by the way i am having a very fun time ripping my interior apart and running expensive wires all over the place. i will post pictures once my set up is complete.

relay it and put a 1-2amp fuse..
safer for ya..

thats the way mine is. no chance of feed back to the deck. ever
keep in mind that alot of the peeps that will reply dont use a fuse, are the same people who dont fuse thier big 3..
seen a few of them on the 401 on fire.. hehe

Fusing the "Big 3" is pointless, but that's a different thread altogether...
