Replacement radio/cassette player for my old Panasonic...

A simple question from a simple fellow... The Panasonic radio/cassette (NOT CD) model CQ-G23EC in my 1982 Mercedes is feeling its age - the cassette player takes its time to get up to speed. I would imagine that my easiest course would be to replace the player with an identical model. Where might I get one (I'm located in Toronto)? If that CQ-G23EC is no longer available,
can you suggest a reasonably-priced alternative please? (Have no need for a CD player - I have far too many cassettes!)
With many thanks,
James.

VERY FEW AFTERMARKET CASSETTE PLAYERS AVAILABLE THESE DAYS. I THINK ECLIPSE STILL MAKES A GOOD ONE....SEE LINK:

ECLIPSE Cassette Tuner 4502 | Fujitsu Ten

YOU CAN CONTACT "MR2NR" A SELLER ON THIS BOARD FOR MORE INFO AS HE'S AN ECLIPSE DEALER OF VERY GOOD REPUTATION.

Veeman: Many thanks for the helpful response. Today I stumbled across a made-for-Mercedes cassette/radio and the chap said to see if I could get someone to fit it in my car before I paid for the cassette/radio. Nice of him. However, I see the Panasonic which is in the car has a single plug at the back of the cassette/radio whereas this Mercedes machine seems to have half a hundred wires sticking out the back.... Do you think it is practical to try and have that machine fitted into the car?

They should be the same size, called a din chassis. While the wiring will be different, it is the same. Take it to a shop or one of the installers who frequent this forum in your area and have the unit wired in properly. Bench test the unit to ensure that it is in working order first. Some of the older Mercedes units were made by Blaupunkt and had a wiring schematic on the top or bottom of the unit.
