Resonant frequency question.

Resonant frequency question.
What does the resonant frequency of a vehicle has to do when you are designing your system? I am planning on putting 2 15” HX2 rated at 1000W RMS each in a ford explorer what would be the best tuned frequency box for these? Also I am going to power them each with 1150W RMS would this be bad for them? Is it safer to over power them in a seal box?

When you find your vehicle's resonant frequency (usually done with a sweep using a sealed 10" or 12" woofer), I've heard most people start tuning their boxes say ~10 hz below this frequency and adjusting from there until gains stop...
As for putting 150rms more than rated on each sub, I don't think it should be much of an issue. Who knows how much of that 1150 you'll actually get.

thanks
Thanks world, actually the amp is the old school earthquake amps where most people say this amp is very under rated. I have one of these amp now and it used to run both 15s" well but i just wanted to double it up so to not run into clipping. also the setup would look nice with an amp for each sub
