RF 600.1 vs. Powerbass ASA 600.2 for Eclipse SW8200
 

Hey folks,

I've asked 3 different people I figured were in the 'know' and was given 3 different answers (not a big surprise). I'm a huge newb so correct me if I'm wrong about any of this.

The final component I can't decide on is the amp to run my sub. Again, I'm not looking to be the loudest car on the road, I just want something that will bump when it needs to and the rest of the time just add low-end filler to my jazz, funk , hip-hop and roots reggae.

Can someone help me make my decision between these two amps? Swapping the sub out for something else isn't really an option at this point.

Rockford Fosgate 600.1
-RMS Power @ 4 Ohms: 325W x 1 @ 4 Ohms

Powerbass ASA 600.2
-# 4 ohm Mono Power : 600W x 1

To run:

a single Eclipse SW8200
- RMS power handling: 670W

What ohm load is the sub? Generally, its safe to match the RMS rating of the sub at a particular ohm load with an amp close to the same output at that load. So.... if the Eclipse is 670w at 4 ohm, then I would go for the Powerbass ASA 600.2

I can't actually see that info and unfortunately the sub and manual are in my car which is being driven by my GF (who I can't get a hold of).

There's your answer, and out of the two amps you asked about the powerbass is definitely my vote (in this situation.)....but as a side, I'd also like to see you get something with a little more power at 4 Ohms to realize the full potential of the sub. I'm a big fan of headroom, I'd try to find something closer to the 1000 watt range.

Def the powerbass for your 4ohm sub.

I've got 2 SW's sealed 2.2 cuft getting 375W each and it'll move them a lot but don't expect it to be loud. They have a poor efficiency, give them 700W @ 4-ohm. They absolutely POUND below 30hz and sound great, but above that, they don't compare to my XXX 12 on 1500W at all. I can't wait to hear them with 750W each.
