Any body else ever had a prob with these? i baught 2 for bout six hundred a piece and i got them "professionnally installed" for free wen i baught them and the coils fried within a week lol. i had a kicker kx 1500.1 running them they are like six hundred Rms.i returned them and i got told they fac defected .. just curious do they suck or is what i was told? maybe the moron who installed did it wrong.

if it has been 2 week's take them back.

_HeC_ 01-27-2007 12:36 AM

did u break them in or just start pounding on them as soon as u got them installed?

The chance of a double failure is pretty much slim to none. I would look at a issue with the amp, how the amp is set up and unfortunately how you are using the system. A sub just does not blow for any reason, something has to cause it to. When you are talking a double failure, it points much more to a problem that does not lay in the subs themself. I don't know how someone can arbitrarily say it was a manufacturer defect, especially on a sub from Rockford.

ditto, that's what I was thinkin while reading the post..check to see how system was installed, get a 2nd opinion or get it installed from someone else..i run a T1 12" my self (2nd one in soon) and i've had mine for almost a year and it wangs everyday no problems...once i get my 2nd one in im gonna feed them around 700-800rms roughly and i'm sure they'll take it no problems, i've seen it happen...it all depends on how they're setup, MR2NR hit it on dot

thats why i think the idiot who put them in wired them stupid or somthing. and i already had them shipped back to rockford for new ones. and i dont think its the amp its never had a problem and its run alot of different subs

Your last post tells me that the amp is more than likely just fine. This leaves only a couple of possibilities. Improper subs and improper load or all out abuse. If the subs are dvc 4 ohm, then it is abuse and no other root cause.

AyZe 01-28-2007 01:34 AM

what u mean by "all out abuse"?

MR2NR 01-28-2007 10:25 AM

If you have a nice 5.0L mustang and do the Pilsbury tire bake off at every stop light and then all of a sudden one day the tires are bald, who's fault is it? Is it the tires for being a POS or is it your heavy foot? In most cases of a blown sub, it is the user that is the root cause of the problem. No offence intended here at all, but you need to discover how to use the system properly.

Heat is a natural byproduct of power. You apply power to a speaker you get heat. If the heat cannot be dissipated then something is going to give, be it the amp or the sub. If you are using the system in a fashion that does not allow this excess heat to be dissipated, that is abuse.

lol it aint from to much boom or anything ... i listen to super tramp etc etc no non stop rap style boom . and the subs are in a double slotted box so lots of cool air gets to them.
