I've seen a tonn of these units in cars and I'm looking for some opinions on them. My understanding of them is that they are an EQ and Crossover but they don't have a delay. Seeing as I'm in the market for a good processor I want all the info I can get!

Thanks

It is a great piece if you get them cheap enough....................I wouldn't pay more then about $300 CDN for one with the E28 card..............I love mine.........well the few that I have

Ok. so the unit dosent have a delay (I checked out the web fosgate web site). If I had a head unit with a delay would it be possible to use it. I think it would work for my top end drivers but I'm not sure what using the delay would do to my subs????

^ You need delay?

Time alignment is a per driver deal. You would not want to use the delay in your headunit as all signal passing to the processor would be delayed and all speakers would then have the same delay which really negates it's purpose.

Right, but I was hoping that the EPX2 would have front and rear inputs. That way I could use 2 different delay settings. My concern was about the subwoofer mainly (assuming the EPX2 has front and rear inputs).

I know I dont NEED a delay, but I would rather have the option then not.

Nope, no front and rear inputs. It does have A and B but that doesn't help much.

Sounds like you want an Alpine PXA-H700 processor

or if you can find one, a Sony 4000x will do exactly what you want. Mine came out to be far less expensive compared to say the Alpine setup mentioned above

The sony doesn't even compare..............oranges and apples..........

Paul Niwranski 02-22-2005 01:26 PM

^ I think a better comparison than Apples to Oranges or Day to Night would be Sony to Good.
