running new wire to front speakers (tutorial wanted)
I am thinking of installing my front speakers myself instead of getting FS to do it. I'd like to run new wire to the components instead of using the stock wiring.
Anyone know where I can find a tutorial on how to do this properly? |
A short metal prod like a flattened out coat hanger and electrical tape are your friends on this one. Any time I've fished wires, I took a coat hanger, sharpened one end, taped said wires to the other end, and fished it through that way. If it's a vehicle that has grommets heat-shrinked onto the factory wires, a carful poke with the sharpened end gets you through to the other side. Took more time and patience than tools or smarts IMO

Here is a link to a thread I made on another site awhile ago. It will help you out immensely if you have molex connectors in your door.

Thanks for the tut. Was wondering the same thing as I really don't want to use the stock wiring for my new system.

Wow an excellent read, exactly what I was looking for :). Thank you.

Will running new wire make any noticeable difference to my ear?
|
Most people won't be able to tell the difference. Mainly, it's for higher power requirements, or if the stock wiring is crappy. Or if you're . :)
|
If you are going to be using an amplifier on the speakers, run new wiring.
|
I think I may as well since the are Morel speakers. I'll try to get the best out of them...
