second enclosure, new enclosure, or same enclosure?
 

ok, I have one 10" woofer, and I picked up a second today.. But, I'm still trying to learn everytihng about enclosures, so bare with me.

Do I?

A) Use the same slot ported enclosure, and cut a hole for the other sub.
B) Build a second enclosure the same, and put 'em side by side.
C) Build a new enclosure, keeping in mind I'm not sure what I would have to do with the port to accompany the different size. (eg. Do I double the port length, or cut it in half if I make the box twice the size.)

I have the room for all of the above.

Build a new box to sport the two, and double the ports, same size and all (assuming your going to make the box exactly double the internal size of the one your using).

that's exactly what i wanted to hear.. anyone else?

well, bobthebrat is essentially right, there are a few choices you can make.

Depending on the subs you are using (make and model would be helpful) and how comfortable you are at building boxes, as well as what you want them for (sq, spl, just a little extra thump while driving ect. ) you could either buy a prefab box from bestbuy or future shop, or you could get a little assistance from the helpful prople in this forum (if neccessary) and put one tohether yourself.

personally i suggest the latter :)

well I PM'd blindhammer, and I figured that I will post the same message here, in case of more options.

"I appreciate the help, but just so I can give you some more information about myself, I am only 19, but I feel that I know more than the average teenager about this stuff. I know better than to go to best buy or buy any pre-fab box for that matter. Most of the boxes I have made were designed by a member of the site, "wagonized" or Dustin, his real name. I've been using his designs for approx 2 or 3 years. The equipment I'm using consists of:

Kenwood Excelon X990 head unit
Hertz Energy 4" coaxials
Alpine V-power mono amplifier (not sure the model number, but puts out a claimed 350x1 at 2 ohms)
two hertz energy 10" woofers (ES250 I think)
8 gauge wiring for now, until I get a second amp, and new alternator.

The box I have right now contains a slotted port, that has 3 dividers inside the enclosure. I'm not too sure how to explain it. I will draw a picture for you on paint if it helps in the near future. I just got the woofer, and for the sake of fun, I simply cut a new hole in the box I have now, and threw it in. It did go much louder, and seems to be tuned a bit higher with the smaller air space due to the second woofer. What I would like to do is build a new enclosure, but doing so with the same design idea.

The easiest way to explain it:
put a duplicate box beside the current one, but take out the two sides that are touching (In theory).

Knowing that the box will be larger, yet I dont have enough power, I will still re-enforce the enclosure using either threaded rod, or adding another layer of MDF.

Also, currently the woofer and port are on the same side of the box. Would it be reasonable to have the port come out of the side with another bend? Once again, a picture to follow if needed."

I completely forget what vehicle you drive man. So it all depends on that (for the last question anyways)

I was wandering if someone might be able to tell me witch kinda box my hcca would be loudest in I'm thinking a 4th order ported threw the ski port is anyone willing to possibly help me out with a cut sheet as well thanks guys
