Shallow Subs Question

Ok here goes i have 2 12inch p5 sony xplods ya i know everyone hates sony but any way i do like them and they are plenty loud but i am in a reg cab pickup and i have seen alot of shallow subs lately now i am lookin at the new sony ones and also the pioneers and i was wondering if anyone has had any experiance with them i like my system loud and i would like the xtra room but i dont really want to trade of on the loudness thanx for your input

The Pioneer one work very well as do Clarion's but they only come in 10" Out of the two mentioned the Pioneers would get vote.

The Pioneer and the Earthquake shallow mount subs have proven to be great speakers. Provided you have the right box for any sub, you will get good output.

if you dont care about looks why not go for the new kicker shallow sub.
some guy did a review on them compared to the clarion, and pioneer iirc,
and it was said the kicker pretty much dominated. I have no experiance with any of them, but i thought i'd put that out there since no one mentioned the kicker shallow.

I have been hearing that the Comp vt's have been killing competitors subs left and right. As well, apparantly eD has a nice set though i dont know much about them...

eD's SQ10 is a great sub, for I believe 70 US shipped from www.elementaldesigns.com it's 3" deep, 9 mm each way excursion, and great sound... also runs 300 RMS at either single 2 or single 4 ohms.

also works in as little as 0.3 cubes sealed

Kenwood has some nice ones as well.

I have the Kicker CVT 12" shallow subs in the board and I am very impressed. I've listened to just about all the "flat" subs on the market now and hands down the Kicker is the loudest. The 10" is crisp and loud while the 12's are a little sloppy but really boomy.

CVT FTW :smilie_da

400wrms available in 2 or 4ohm SVC :smokin:

Phase Linear 12 si for serious SQ. Some say they are comparable to 27Kx.

The Pioneers are decent in small sealed enclosures, but they don't port well.
Anyone tried ported on any of the above mentioned brands?

silverbane 03-02-2007 10:10 AM

Isnt the point of a shallow sub very small enclosures Most ppl seal them!

Charlie. are you on drugs? They rock in a ported box. Try a 1.2 ft box with a 3" port 11 inches. This is from trial and error. the pioneer designs dont work well

i've heard a lot of good things about the Elemental Designs SQ10 slim driver. Lots of people seem to be running them in truck boxes and what not with great results.
check out their site www.edesignaudio.com for more info
cheers
