I learnt this the hard way...

I got 3 packages... (1 usps, 1 fedex, 1 ups)

Bolth UPS/Fedex had extra chages and tax (GST)

Fedex was around 130.00 extra and Ups was around 100 extra...

Usps didn't charge me a thing, package arrived perfectly with no suprises.

I never want something shipped to me that is not via usps... The brokerage fees and taxes (NAFTA) should never be that much.

I'd like to get my money back but from what i hear it's usless trying with those companies.

^ Ive looked into that myself... I used to work at a mercadies benz shop and thats what the owner did...

You have to physically go over to the states and pick up your shiz at a post office box (you pay for) and bring it through customs yourself. The guy I mentioned has stuff sent to the office for a car ferry on the USA side. They bring it to thier office on the Canadian side and he pays $2 then brings it through customs himself...

He gets discounts with fedex and does this all the time so its worth while.. otherwise you are better off just paying usps $5 brokerage and waiting the extra couple days.....

I buy a lot from the states and always use usps as canada post only charges 5.00 for brokerage and you have to pay gst/pst on any amount over 20.00 cdn even if it's a gift. Trust me I have checked into it thoroughly. You may also have to pay duty( unknown amount based on country of origin and whether or not Canada has a trade agreement with said country), If it was manufactured in the u.s there is no duty. From personal experience as long as it says "car stereo"on the shipping bill they don't charge extra duty. Also make sure the seller does not over estimate value for insurance as customs will use this to determine taxes. By the way I shop a lot locally, it's just that some things are not available here or are more than twice the shipped cost.

Im in nova scotia and the prices out here are crazy. For instance an xtant amp(600wrms mono) cost $1499 same amp $445 at indo audio. I bought so much stuff there...you're crazy not to. As for buying the OZ sub. Do it, have buddy ship it USPS, make sure it's Double boxed and safe. Have shipper value the sub at $10us. You will receive sub with no duty and no extra fees. my buddy has done it this week, last week, and about 50 times in the last 4 years. no problems
