SI Subs - Any Good?
#2
I've had an older version of a Mag and that was a different sub it is now with v4. And the Mag v4 is not in the same league as an IDQ. IDQ prior to v3 were pretty much SQ subs which could not take more than 500 watts without wining, sonically they sounded great, but could not take a beating. IDQ v3 I have no experience with, but they look sturdier. Based on no experience with Mag v4 and IDQ v3, I would go with the Mags just based on a hunch. BTW, I loved my Mag the most between Brahmas, W7's, XXX's, IDMax's, as they were all comparable subs, but IDQ was never in the same league.

I have the older model of the si mag
The new ones aren't as good
I'm pushing some decent power to it in a 2.3 cube box and it slams pretty good!!
Why are you looking at one?
My stuff is always for sale for the right price

I currently OWN a pair of SI v4 mags! NOT installed yet! but if i were you don't waste your time on IDQ anything! v3! MAGS v4 out weigh both of those subs!! and yes i own a IDQ v4, the only difference is the idq can take a smller box and less power, notice there specs!

I'm a big fan of Image Dynamics having owned a couple of 10" drivers in the past and a 12" in a ported box for a short time. A friend has a new Mag4 and it is possibly the best sounding single 12" I have ever heard. Mind you, the Mag is pretty much a pure SQ sub and my buddy's setup is for precisely that.
If you are looking for a sub to slam or break glass, the Mag isn't for you. However, itf you want a sub that will blend with the rest of your soundstage seamlessly, it's definitely worth a look. I'm picking up a DIYMA 12 for my current build, but if I can't get one, the Mag is my next pick
