I bought my new computer 3 months ago and without much computer experience thought that the factory speakers would work fine. They lasted about 3days until I could make a fix.
I used the speakers from a Sony "home theater in a box" (as it lasted about 3 weeks before I upgraded and now use it solely as a DVD player) and I hooked them to an old Sony receiver I had in the garage.
One of the wood trim type receiver's from the '70's. Sounds great though.

ya that is easy tho, my added speakers, Tweeter, Cross-Overs are all wired in to the stock Altec Lansing sub box, which I didnt even think would work but it works great so now I have 6 speaker + sub system that acts as a 3 way system...

There is nothing better than good sound from the 'puter.
I use a new denon reciever with 5.1 sound, and the sound card puts out a digital signal, so movies and games are in surround.
easy to do!

Ever heard a Logitech Z680 system? The volume starts to hurt my ears at 3/4 volume and is distortion free. Sounds great and is powered by a 6 channel plate amp
THX certified and Dolby Pro Logic 2 creates a great 5.1 experience!

What are you powering your 3 way system with?

Is it good that it hurts your ears? Is it ggood that it does it at 3/4 of the way on the volume knob? Why?
