sirius
i know it has been talked about before, but what if you already have a deck that can play it. will it work? and if so do i need to get an antena and if so i say $crew that, cause im only going to do it for a month. it's just something i wanna try out, considering i already have a reciver/deck. the site are those US prices? and do i have to pay anouther $10.00 just to activate it. this was very confuseing to me when i went on to the site.
For any deck you need to buy the DEI built tuner for it. I paid $90 US for my alpine Tuner with antenna. You pay a $10 activation charge and they take $12.95 (xm or sirius) off your credit card.
I think the cheap hardware will get them lots of subs, Im not the only one that paid $300 plus like $90 for an antenna for an Alpine XM tuner.
I cannot live without satallite radio, you can't once you get used to it. You should do a search for XM or Sirius here.

well i was kinda just gonna do it if all i had to do was pay the 12 bucks and it was a done deal, but if it's going to be all those hidden cost, it's not worth it right now. i still gotta save up for some new tires. i think my tires are needed more then a tuner(damn you hidden cost). no matter where you go thiers going to be some kind of extra cost weighing soemthing down. it can't just be as simple as putting the money on the table, you have to pay all these extra costs.

stand alone units are around 200-250 and add on tuners are about the same, subscription is 12.95 US per month and you must supply a US address.
Terk builds XMdirect units for alpine, kenwood, sony and pioneer, sirius connect makes them for alpine and pioneer (others I'm sure)

then you dont need sat radio. i think sirius and xm are awesome products. its a cheap subscription and for people that spend alot of time in their cars it can be a life saver, always different music and always a huge base of genres to pick from so your never bored. one day i'll get around to throwing it in the car...one day.
As far as "hidden costs" go, there isn't any. The 2 companies are very up front on what you need to get started, and almost every head unit that is designed to control satellite radio, says "xm ready" or "sirius ready". The only All-in-one that i'm familiar with is the Alpine 9820xm from the 2004 lineup.
