Smartass Subwoofer Testing
Well we will see how the testing goes, I have a few more options still. I am looking into some US build house and some of them you guys might know. Or I am looking outside of North America and I am looking at one 12" driver in particular. They only make it in one size. specs are:
12” Die-cast aluminum frame
Kevlar fiber & Non pressed paper cone
Heavy duty foam edge
Rubber ring gasket
3” Daul BASV voice coil
2x60oz high energy strontium magnet
Impedance: dual 4 ohm
RMS power: 750-800watts
This is what it looks like

Problem is they have no T/S numbers for it yet. So its a bit of a gamble.
So tell me what you think
Sorry pic not very good, imagine no white dots and crap.

Looks great... but I'm personally not a fan of that type of basket. When I look at that all I can see is extra weight added for no reason other than cosmetics.
Others might like the idea though... I really only care about performance, not looks

that basket looks a lot like the MA Audio baskets used in a bunch of their subs.
as for the 10" that i'm breaking in its starting to sound quiet a bit better now, its got .75net now and seems to like that a bit better than the .5 that it was in.. that may partially be due to it being more broken in now but so far so good. it does seem to really like power though fwiw.

Hey there guys hope all is well. Well I have talk to over 12 different build houses now from China to the US. Some of which want us to purchase 250+pcs of each size at a time. So anyways as a small company im not prepaired to bring in 750 drivers to find out they are not what you guys want. Now I have the oppurtunity of hooking up with the buildhouses TCsounds, or the guys that created and designed all the Kicker product pre them moving offshore. Right now they have said I can have basically the original first gen L5 squares to work with and some of the other drivers. And then later down the road as we start moving more gear start custom tooling for us. I know the prices are a little higher then an offshore piece. But I believe in quality products. I personally would rather have a piece that lasts for 10years and pay a bit more then laying out money every 2years for a new piece. I want to create a business that takes pride in all they gear. But I value your guys opinions and need to ask you as a consumer are squares what everyone wants?
Problem with most of the offshore places they have very limited information about the drivers they sell. Its a crap shoot and they don't like to send samples often. Its more like you make full order now we send you product.
This is a shoot myself in the foot scenario.
So you guys tell me, is this something you want to see? Or should I just keep looking for the perfect driver via offshore? Or should I even bother?
Thanks
