smokey sub

On my way to work today my sub stopped working. Popped the trunk and the sub wasn't moving any and the amp was in protect.

I had some new TS-w3001d4 premier subs on the way from the US but shipping went bad and i got a refund. I can still get two of them for under $300 but since the sub I had blew so quickly I'm hesitant to go Premier again.

I want something that will last, hits pretty hard (no burping just rock/rap music) and be easy on my wallet.

The (2) 12" subs should be around 1000w RMS each as I have the hifonics bxi-2006d amp (2000w @ 1 ohm).

That brings up a question as well, how long would 2 12's last running at 1 ohm?

EDIT: I've looked at some W7s Type Xs and 9912's, all of which are too expensive and the DD's are out of my league entirely, I'd say.

Well first there are quite a few subs that will take 1000W as long as you know what you're doing, cuz for daily that alot of power. Next is they (the subs) dont see 1ohm, they accumuitavely give the load to the amplifier on whether or not its 1ohm.

2-12"Type R's dual 4's will equal 1ohm but you'd have to becareful with 2000W quite abit cheaper then the X's

Just because youre premier didnt last doesnt mean be hesitant, you obviously had a bad issue underlining, wrong impedence, bad enclosure size. I have one twelve that i have had for two years, on several different amps, ranging from 500 watts to 3200. And i also burp it too. I suggest still going with premier. you wont for better on a budget.

Yeah thats the model i have, sucks to hear that. I have ran it both mono and stereo. i would suggest getting the new champion series 3001 d2/4, and if you got the extra cash step up to the 5102spl rated at 2000rms and 6000 peak. Have you thought about hifonics' new olympus subs?

well i did look around and for $250 (w/ shipping) I can get 2 of the d4's

I plan on running them in parallel to the hifonics brutus 2006d amp i have

they both (as u know) have 1000w rms and will run off the amp 1 ohm @ 2000w rms

I should've had them weeks ago but went haywire and i ended up blowing a nice sub =(

EDIT: somethin just came into my head... if i have them hooked up that way wont it be running 2000watts to BOTH at once? so 2000w to 1 and 2000w to the other? Or does it split them up so its 2000w coming out of the amp and each sub getting 1000w of it? that is at 1 ohm. And if i'd have to have it running at 2 ohm, it'd put out 1300w... if that makes sense help me out please.

If you get two D4's, it'll run at one ohm... the wattage from the amp will split between the subs, so in a perfect world, they'd get 1000rms each. However.....

lol i probably would, but my buddy like i said has them, and i want to have some better sounding . To be honest he went to langley and spent $5500 on a kenwood screen, a component speaker set, 2 US amps and 2 RE SX's
I've spent $1100 so far, and 400 on my new speakers would make him look shameful.

only thing is hes got them sealed in a ford bronco and mines ported in my trunk =(
