So now what.....
So a few of you helped me out. One question: what is clipping? anyhow if i do need to change to a single 4 or dual 2 what kind of sub can you suggest. I cant run two cuz i have limited space. I need some info, also i dont get how my first sub ran 2 months @ 2 ohms and the others made a week or a day @ 8 ohms, doesnt higher resistance mean less damage done anyhow help me please.
Overloading the amplifier (clipping)
The term clipping describes a situation in which the signal peak is cut off, or clipped, when the amplifier is over-loaded.
The distortion to the amplifier output signal which occurs as a result of clipping is very high in energy, but is usually of very high frequency.
In some circumstances the distortion is inaudible, but is still capable of wrecking a loudspeaker within a few seconds. As a basic rule, an amplifier with a higher output power will reach its clipping threshold later.
You are therefore less likely to damage a loudspeaker by clipping if you use a powerful amplifier.
