Question some engine noise

Hi guys,

I got some engine noise on my system, think it comes from the alternator cause it apears when i accelerate, it's sounds like whistling.. it was even worse yesterday (it was just constant) --> checked my deck and i had ground conecter in a very crappy manner, fix it and it became much better and but still can hear it from time to time.
i checked to forums and people say to use bigger ground and connect it to the chassi...
So the question is --> does it have to be the chassis or battery's ground is alright ? and is there a difference if i use ground from the decks harness or the thing on the back of the deck (that u screw on with rubber top)

Is there anything else that can be done ? @ my friend's work they use magnets on the wires to eliminate noise in equipment, is that a good idea ?

If you're running amplified speakers, ensure your RCA's aren't run on the same side of the car as your amp power cable. Good luck

Post way more info. Vehicle make and model, equipment installed, wire guage used, how things are wired. Is it a Pioneer headunit that you have by chance?

alright... i got JVC KD-G320, Infinity REF7541 amp on 8gauge wire, Eclipse XA1000 on 4gauge wire, speakers are RF punch 6x8 and alpine type-s 6x9 - speaker wire im not sure about the gauge but its quite thick so are the RCAs (and they are seperate from power cables), only one speaker wire from the front one runs with power cbls.

It has to be the grounding since after i fixed ground on the deck it became much better

i had a cap and two amps and i only had one ground from the cap for all of them.
i grounded each amp AND the cap seperatly with 4gage wires and it works fine right now

only one speaker wire from the front one runs with power cbls.this is bad

form your battery ..............#1st have you done the big 3 ?

look at your -neg"s- so look at the battery do you have a good - to the car like a 0g wire ?
if you can go to all your toys in the car and see if the -neg # is the same if the #is not the same you will get engine noise
how old are the rca's ?

I had a similar issue last week, a good high pitch whine from my engine coresponding to revs.

I just tightened down all my connetions and the noise hasn't come back.

as for grounding I've got my deck grounded to the frame near the deck, aswell both of my amps are grounded to the frame in the trunk.
aditionally I've got a small ground wire linking the two spots on my frame where I've grounded to (the deck ground spot to the amps ground spot).
