UH! I asked my parents to pick me up a sheet of mdf while in the cities today. When I got home it was raining and coming down the road I saw the truck sitting outside and then it hit me that my wood was probly in the back. Well it turns out that it was. I was so f'ing mad at that moment cuz they were sleeping and left the wood outside. The truck was kindof under a tree and it was only sprinkling but the whole top was wet. It looks like it is only surface but the wood is not smooth anymore on the top. Half of the board was pretty dry with just some droplets of wetness. Do you think I can salvage that part or do you think the whole thing will still work properly? This might be a stupid question considering that you guys can not see the wood but I was wondering if anyone had any input. Thanks.

Sounds to me like you have a half-sheet of MDF with something gross stuck to the end of the sheet.....:dunno:

Well, I pulled the wood inside and came in and wrote this. After I sent it I took about a 5-10 min shower and went out to look at the wood again and it was all dry. I think this means it was only the very top layer so I used it :D. We will know if I made the right or wrong choice when I fire my system up this weeked. And where do you get mdf for $15!!!! It costs me $24.?? at menards. Out of 4 wood shops and fleet farm menards is the only place that carries mdf in my area :(.

well that was a pointless comment, really depends how wet it got i would guess. give it a shot, whats the worst that could happen?

If it's not bubbling and warping it's fine.

I go all the time to the scrap bin at Rona or HD and you can find full sheets of 3/4" for $5 - $10 because a corner is dinged or it has slight water damage. A small bit isn't going to hurt, it's when you see the wood is thicker in spots that you're in trouble.

HA! I knew I wrote this post for a reason although I didn't know it at the time. I was lookin for signs of the wood being useless. And thank God that this sign doesn't exist cuz I spent two days makin the box and I think it turned out great.

...theres nothing wrong with a wet box...
