Soooo many choices!!!!!

Ahhhhh their are so damn many of them.

Being it that time of year again, I figure its time to put some wood working skills together, and upgrade the system.

Now, Im 95% sold on a Clarion DXZ675 for the head unit. Ive heard nothing but great things. (Of course if anyone has other opinions lol feel free).

As for the sub... Im sure I want a 15" or 12"
Ive looked at the Clarion, A few from MA Audio.... But im not sure which company to "trust". Ive heard of too many companies rating their subs much higher than what they can actually handle. Ive browsed around quite a bit here, and it seems the "big" names arent always the way to go. Anywho.... Im still not sure what I want to settle on. Please... All opinions open. Im not looking to spend more than 500$ Canadian for 1 sub...

Now for the amp.. This is the very tricky part. I have absolutely NO idea what I want. Price for amp isnt really all that important. I can fork out the cash if need be.

I know this thread is as typical as the other ones... But reading through them.... I feel I need something a bit more direct. The system will be going into the trunk of a 1998 Cavalier z24. I dont need to leave alot of space, just for a 24 of cans... (that is beer for the youngins)

Anywho guys, Any help is appreciated. Opinions of companies would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Goding

fifteens are a bit big for cav trunks i find. one twelve is great and leaves you with lots of room. For 500 for a sub you have tons of options, do you want to have more of an spl system or sound quality. Also have you thought of 2 ten inch subs. You can fit pretty big boxes if you slide the box from inside the car. As for amp it depends on what you want in your system, If money is no object i suggest american bass, atomic, sundown, rd audio, maxxsonics(hifonics, crunch, autotek) best bang for buck. And for sub/s, Fi, rd audio, Dc soundlabs, Premier, soundstream, hifonics, dd, T3. Like i said earlier with a budget you have your options are are very open. More info on what you want is the best thing to do right now. Pm if you need more info.

Yeah info is all im really looking for right now. Ive got a buddy with 2 Clarion 10's...... Not quite "loud" enough for me. Im leaning more to the SPL side, how ever, id still like some quality. I dont plan on putting this in shows... but id still like to impress some of the locals around here.

I was thinking the same thing about the 15.....1x12 Would do me well, I do plan on going with a custom made ported box... I see some of the names their.. Just wondering, Are their any websites I can order from (preferably based in Canada).... Or is it easier just to go into a retailer?

I was looking at http://www.onlinecarstereo.com they seem to have great prices.... anyone deal with this company??

Thanks for the reply.

Great company to deal with as long as you dont mind paying customs and brokerage. sonicelectronix, woofersetc, smartass.bz, audiosavings, ficaraudio, soundsolutionsaudio/shop and of course ebay. If you want 1 12 go with FI, RD audio, RE, or even audioques new HDC3 Great spl subs with great sound

To enjoye your bass the best, I would suggest spending a little less on subs and amps and spend some cash on sounddeadening. Makes the hole listening experience much better.

I would have to agree. I would pick up a MAW 15, and get a good amp to power it.

Alright, Ive been looking over the Mach5 subs and waht not, I think im sold on one or 2 (if you guys think I will have room) Now I just need a good amp to power it all, and ill be set.

AAAAAAA - I do plan on investing in some sound deadening in the near future. I want to get the system set up, then go into the "extras" :)

Two 12's are going to be louder than a single 15" if that's your goal. I've done plenty of J-Bodies and have gone both setups.
Don't forget to add some sound deadening and upgrade the rest of the speakers as the stockers are horrible.
If you want to save some cash there are lots of great equipment in the For Sale section currently.

I have a 2000 grand am with a wheelwell box running 2 type r 12's in it-i'm only running power to 1 of them (until i get my bigger amp back)but i got 600rms on the one and it hits pretty damn good(hifonics amp)
