sound system inquiry!
hey guys, so im basically brand new to car audio.. dont know much at all :thumbsdow
but anyways, i have a '94 honda accord 2 door (such limited space) and am looking to put in my first sound system my friend is selling his current setup: 3 10inch JL W0 Subs, 2 TR350-CXi High range speakers and 2 TR400-CXi mid range speaker all powered by a Zapco 350 AG Series Amp with a in a Non Ported box. i don't know dimensions but.. would this even fit/be compatible with my car? (i know i probably sound like an idiot) :D Hes asking $550 for it. Honestly i have NO idea if this is a good or bad deal.. or really anything about that.. its just jargon to me! what do you guys think? Also.. what else would i need? obviously installation.. but everything to my knowledge is stock in the car, so any other parts that i would need to run that system? (deck?) thanks in advance! EDIT: getting an ipod also, so will need to buy a new deck with ipod connectivity.. any suggestions to run this rig? (as inexpensive as possible without compromising quality) |
You need a deck with all the install goodies to go with it (mount, ant. adapter, wiring harness) Then RCAs, power and ground wire, remote wire, fuse holder/s, fuses. As for your freinds setup he is running 7 speakers off a 2 channel amp rated at 350 watts max. If you do decide to buy the equipment run the speaker to 2 ohms on both channels and get a subwoofer amp for the subs. Also i would recommend getting a bigger speaker for the back then a 4 inch, a 3 1/2 or 4 is fine for the front but not for the back of a vehicle IMO.

hmm.. well, is another amp REALLY necessary? I'm not looking to have a system that can blow everyones ears off :p just somethin that pounds and sounds good! As far as the $550 price tag, is this high/low? I'm sure its negotiable :p
And if i took this system to a car audio store.. around how much would it cost me to install it? I dont have any experience with car audio so I wouldnt trust myself doing it |
In my mind yes it is necessary to get a sub amp. You are running high mid and low off 2 channels. Not recommended and must sound like s***. It should take a good shop no more then 2 hours to do it, but that does not include a deck installation just the equipment and the necessary wires for it. So 2 hours of their labour and the install accessories.

hmm.. okay, that makes sense!
another system i saw for sale in the paper: 2 - Visonik 10" Subs /w box's 2 - 300 Watt Visonik Mono Amps (one for each sub!!) 2 - JBL 6-1/2" Rear Speaker CS series 1 - Sony CD Player (Deck) cables for set up is this a really low end system or something? hes only asking $100 cash for everything! |
