SounDigital SD800
I just bought and installed a SounDigital SD8000 amp.
I thought I would share my experience. I have seen a lot of question about this amp and its ability to perform as it is rated. I believe this is because of the small size of the amps as well as the fact that it is a relatively new company. Let me tell you, it performs even better than expected. Unfortunately I didn’t get a lot of play time. One of my sub's blew. The coil was making a bit of noise at the end of the last year, so it is no surprise to me, especially after putting that much power on them. During the time I did get to play it I did notice a few things that surprised me. First was the sound of the amp, I must say (with limited play time) it sounds cleaner and tighter then the kicker amps I was using. Secondly (not as surprising due to the fact that the SD is rated much higher) this amp completely out performs the pair of zx2500.1 amps. (I was also comparing the kicker amps with the car running to the SD8000 with the car off. I’m sure the extra couple volts I get with the car running will make it even more impressive.) From a rating standpoint there was no doubt the SD8000 would do this, but there is that visual aspect that leaves doubt. Looking at the 2 kickers compared to the SD8000. It makes you think there is no way that an 18” long amp could out perform a combined 54” worth of amp in the kickers. It took all of about 5 seconds to put that doubt to rest. Now I must also say Murilo Alvares (International sales and after sales care) was great to deal with. He answered my many e-mails and phone calls about this amp quickly. Unlike many other companies I have dealt with he was able to answer my questions with out having to refer to “the tech dept." From my experience it was some of the best customer service I have had. I would definitely recommend this brand . |
any power numbers? pics of the install? anything?
SD is good from the people who know their . |

unfortunatly the subs did not last long enough to get any time on the meter.
As far as power numbers.... I dont have a clamp meter. So once the install is finished someone that has one is more then welcome to measure it or just come check it out. The car is away for the winter, but once it is out I will be going to shows. It will be there for all to see / hear. I am running 3 kinetik HC2400's an Ohio Generator alt. for the electrical. 2 solo x 18's for subs tuned to 32 HZ Obviously this is not a SPL install but more daily oriented. I am going to be giving bass race a try this year too.... I will post more info / pictures as soon as the car is back together and the subs are reconed. hopefully these pics will hold you over for now.....
