Soundoffs in General

less rules, more emphasis on the overall sound quality of a particular vehicle, and not on install, ive seen the things you have done in your car james to comply with rules and to get "bonus" points and find it ridiculous the extent you went to, and not one of the things you did made your car sound better(im talking about the wiring, color coded loom), thats just stupid

Yeah, but James is a pro, he is expected to be at a higher level than novices. I agree that for local shows the lower classes don't ned to worry about that. but installs would not be where they are today without pushing the envelope a bit. I think more spectator involvment is key. SPL is kinda fun to watch but there should be things to do for the crowd or SQ guys when they are not being judged. Something as simple as renting one of those inflatable jumping contraptions will help bring in a more diverse crowd (people with families) eating and drinking (slushes or whatever, not beer) are quick easy low cost events that anyone, competitor or spectator, can enter. Girls in Bikini's always help draw in that ever popular 16-24 male crowd. Make sure the girls pay attention to the guys with what you are trying to sell, that way the guys who don't have it will want it so they can get the attention too.

^ It's a CAR SHOW. From the very beginning IASCA has kept the idea around that although sound is obviously the main focus, it IS still a car show.
Otherwise you may as well just drop a couple grand on some Grado headphones and hook them up to the CD player
IMO, spectator "sports" should be physical or embarassing rather than display their prowess at DonkeyKong.
- Woofer toss
- Stock deck toss
- Screamin or belching contest
- grab a sparetire
- waterballoon toss
- slurpee drink
fun stuff like that.
Prizes whould be gear or POP stuff and keep the ho's clothes on...

dwvw, i see your point, but the extent that james was told to got to by a judge in castlegar to gain the extra bonus points seems silly and it would be a shame if he lost a show by 2 points to a guy who got 10 bonus points for wiring and creativity when james had a higher sq score, lets agree that this assumes that the car isnt a total fire hazzard, i just think that the way the scoring is makes it far to possible for a car competeing is sq to lose even though he has higher sq points which to me seems fundamentally wrong, being that the catagory is sq.

I don't know how it is in USACi but in IASCA in any class in IASCA other than the Ultimate classes it is very hard for an average sounding car to beat a good sounding car on install.
Scott Buwalda came very close to Mark Eldridge with a street system at SBN.

I agree with ole defro, the Category is called "sound Q", Not "How nice and pretty are the colours of your loom" competition. I mean, it says a lot to have a nice clean install, but up to those insane standards that have nothing to do with the quality of the sound. Maybe there should be two categories, one for sound Q, and another for pretty loom and wire colours.
Oh ya, one more thing to add to a show. Three Words, lol "bikini car wash"

By the way, one thing I forgot to add. We're not a for sure yet, but there's an import show at Sport Mart Place, and as long as head honcho approves, we'll be having an spl and sq soundoff in the parking lot outside the arena. It's the week after hot night in the city and will be on the 21st. I will keep everyone posted on whether it's a go or not, and give up all the nitty gritty when I know more.
Cheers.
