Soundstream Capacitors - any good?
Soundstream Capacitors - any good?
Hey I've got a huge orion hcca system going into my new car and need some advice. First of all I always have run multiple batteries, one up front and one in the back. This time I'm wondering about adding a capacitor to the mix, as I don't ever want to upgrade my system again, a permanent install if you wish. I see a 40farad soundstream cap, but I have no experience with large caps. I don't want to buy based on price, i want to buy based on performance. ANyone know about this please help me out. Otherwise I might not run a cap at all, just a batcap or 2 in the back. Oh also, current requirements will be around 400 amps total for the system. thanks for the help.
I'm assuming you've either done or are going to do the alternator.
I don't have much experience with systems this large but I would think that if you are running a couple of good batteries then a cap is not necessary.
I lot of the guys that I've seen at the few competitions that I've been to (but never competed in) don't run caps at all.

yeah, that's how I used to run it. I'm not actually going for competition, just hoping for a 150dB (new mics) personal system. I had hit 156 in my last one (old mics), then a 2003 series rockford amp started on fire and took the whole car out. Anyways, I was just wondering if it would help to get a cap. The whole car electrical system is completed already...
