I'm sure that this has been discussed already here, but couldn't find it. Here goes: My 8" midbass is falling apart, and I need to glue the front gasket (layered cardboard) to the frame so that the surround does not completely come off.
What kind of glue would be good to glue cardboard to steel?

Hotglue, silicone, goop, shoe goo, E6000, cyanoacrylate...

I have seen on this board ppl recomending Shoe Goo as a repair for speakers. Never tried it so can't say from exp. [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] Good luck on your repair.

Yeah get some Goop from canadian tier comes in black and clear

...and there's an automotive goop. I think the standard household goop is good enough tho.

i would talk to dave at speaker city. he mixes up a few diff solutions to get his adhesive of choice. Call him up and ask him. tell him pat at trends sent you. www.speakercity.ca

I like to use contact cement [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] goop/goo/silicone would work well, but it has a longer dry time. Hot glue should be OK if ya get the yellow industrial stuff... hot summers can cause hot glue to come apart though... Any urathane glue should also work well or even extra thick carpenders glue... CA gel also... (I wouldn't use the regular stuff)
