Speaker wire and how much of it?

So I got some awsome boxing day deals on JBL products. Saved $200 on amp and $100 for each set of speakers. I got 2 sets 1 set for front and 1 for back.

Anyways a lot of people know (but some dont) I own a 4 door VW Jetta and I wanna hook this amp up to run the front and rear JBL speakers Im gonna be installing. I wanna hide the wire pretty good without having to take all the flooring out and carpet and stuff.

Anyways the amp pushes out 100 watts rms per speaker. Each speaker can take 60 watts rms each or 180 watts peak.

What gauage of speaker wire should I get and how big of a roll should I get? I think I wanna place my amp in the trunk as its pretty big. So the speaker wire wil have to run all the way back to the trunk.

Now I know I could go measure each side on how much then add it all up and get a rough estimate but I am hoping someone already knows how much I will need (I am just gonna buy a roll of it anyways. not gtetting it pre cut) and what size I should get.

I was thinking 12-16 gauage? And about 100 feet? Is 12 gauage too much? is 100 feet not enough?

Thats why I am asking.

Thanks in advanced.

12 gauge wire is excessive. You would be perfectly fine with 16 gauge wire as long as it is decent quality.

100 feet is plenty, you may be able to get away with 50 feet but it would be cutting it close so you may want to play it save.

For running the wires you shouldn't have to take the carpet up you should be able to route the wires along the bottom sides of the interior, just pop off the bottom trip pieces and then you can put the wires underneath there.

No need to be rude. Ill suggest the same just make sure not to run your rca's along with your speaker or power wire, due to the chance of ground noise thru the rca's.

power wire beside RCA's is a brutal myth.

i'd get 80ft of 16AWG of any of the speaker wire listed on this site. i like working with the karma series, cause it looks neat and tucks away nicely since its round in shape.

ya i was told that not too long ago. maybe u could answer another question for me?

for my satellite radio i have an input that are rcas to head phone jack into my satellite radio. it gets that fuzzy noice just a bit. not enough to actually hear it unless u pause the music on the satellite radio. it doesnt cross any power wires that i know of cause i ran it myself. would u know why itsa making that noise?

always experience static from 3.5mm headphone jacks... only way to rid of it is to have a head unit that uses a sat radio interface to buffer out the noise
