Im really just looking forward to meeting some of the people at these comps. I believe a few of my friends are coming out too, but i cant speak for them.
if your car really looks like this you'll need some help for high db readings.

Actually none of the holes go through the body, its only on the outside. As for the trunk its only light surface rust, but still looks horrible.
I really dont expect to get any high dB readings anyways unless i get a chance to build a better box than the one im using. I hope to change a few things before i go...but the keyword there is "hope". I also "hope" to fix the rust/holes by the time i go....but i highly doubt thats gonna happen.

I was already warned when i first got this car that it would be a HORRIBLE choice for car audio. I guess it has something to do with the shape/size of the trunk or something? Or maybe the fact that without putting butyl patches on the sides of the trunk they would just flex from the slightest pressure. From what i have experienced so far i noticed that the stuff i had in my old car (95 Escort hatch) sounded horrible and extremely weak in this car. I know going from a hatch to a trunk makes a big difference, but i heard my old stuff in another trunk and it sounded alot better than it did in mine. I hope to get a project car one of these days with a hatch. I have a pair of 15's in my car, and i KNOW it should sound a whole lot better than it does, but im just workin with wut i got for now.

if you've got any program to download music from (not sure if its illegal or what the deal is) u can try typing in bass, or bass test, things like that u'd be amazed at what shows up. just dont get a virus

I had made my own bass testing cd once by using a program called Sig Jenny or something like that. It was just a signal generator and i just made some tones and recorded them. I also used Fruity Loops to produce sweeps to get a better idea of which tones were loudest. Unfortunately i was going by ear and not by meter, so it really didnt help me at all. The other problem was i had to run fruity loops and sig jenny at the same time just to try and determine which frequencies i was playing in fruity loops througout the sweep.
Its a whole lot of trouble, but i was just doin it for fun, and i ended up making some cool bass songs of my own. Mostly oldschool style bass songs like they had back in the early 90s.

and BLU3Fi5H, 35-37hz is usually a daily driving frequncy, SPL setups are usually(not always) tuned higher. for instance, mine peaks at 73hz.

but ur best bet is to try to find a meter before hand, and if you cant, then try a sweep, then just ur peak freequency. good luck
Mat has the idea. When I've helped in such events I ask the driver if he or she has done this before as I'm putting the "dot" and senser in place. Then recomend the sweep as mentioned. After the run is over get the sweet spot from the head judge and record it on the back of the dash card. Now the paper is there memory for the next run. For the record the higher the frequency the less violent it is and in therory the louder you can go. Remember theres the 80hz cap.
