A Start to a new system | WARNING: NOOBIE
 

Hello, I have recently purchased a 2010 five door Ford Fiesta Edge 1.2L and have been thinking about replacing the sound system after finding out that the person who had the car before me had already invested a bit of money into a decent Pioneer touch screen (AVH-X8700BT). The thing is, I know nothing about car stereo, I don't even know which brands are decent and which aren't (popular, yet cheap-ish brands I have come across; Pioneer, Alpine, Juice, Sony, Edge etc). I also wanted to install it myself, I've never done it but I work in IT and have a basic knowledge of electronics.

I have a few questions as I don't really know what I should buy and what I need for it to work. I was thinking to start with the driver's and passenger's speakers as those are the easiest and apparently make a massive difference (I will want to do the backseat ones too). What should I be looking for and will they work as it is or do I need an amp with it, if so then is it worth waiting and getting a sub at the same time as that will probably have a built in amp. How would I go about wiring the speakers (and the sub)? Are there guides? Can people share their experience to make mine a bit easier, or should I just cough up the money and get it done professionally? If so, then where? Halfords? Ford? That's gotta be expensive right?

The thing with installing it myself is that the person who did the touch screen did a really good job, the steering wheel controls work, the parking cam shows up automatically when I reverse etc. I don't really wanna break it.

Now onto the Sub, because it's only a Fiesta I was thinking about an 'under the seat' one, are they worth it? or should I get a bigger one that will sound a million times better? is there that much difference?

Looking on the internet, there are a lot of options for speakers, amps, subs etc. I don't want to spend more than £300 but if I can the cost, I might be able to spend a lot more, again, if it's worth spending more. I also really like the look of the vibrant and flashy speakers and was thinking about sticking with one brand as it keeps the 'theme' of the system persistent which makes it look better. As I said, I am a noob and know nothing but I am keen to learn and really look forward to the DIY approach.

Also I have seen plenty of accessories online like dampening foam, capacitors for your sub etc. Is there any accessories that are a must for a system like this and are they worth the effort (and money)? Another thing is the battery, would my battery limit what speakers and amps I get? (I don't know if this is even relevant)

As for me, I have installed the android head unit, it has its own amplifier - the sound becomes better, plus it has many additional functions. I am satisfying.

I get it here, for those who are interested
